I love surprises, don’t you? A few weeks ago I had a small present on my desk from Sweden. And a very interesting one. I knew that one of my colleagues had spent her vacation in Sweden and since living abroad and not having daily access to salty licorice my first thought was – oh a small box of candies.
I was wrong. But happily so. I was a small candy box containing a colorful bracelet with the text: Childhood where each color represents one article of UN convention on the rights of the child. Childhood is an international foundation founded by the H.M Queen Silvia of Sweden in 1999. On their website it is explained like this: ”World Childhood Foundation’s work is aimed at the most marginalized children, the ones most often ignored and forgotten. Childhood focuses especially on girls and the main target groups are street children, children living in institutions, young mothers and sexually abused children.”
To see more about Childhood’s projects visit their website: www.childhood.org and thank you Sofia for the lovely present.
